São Martinho do Porto a prime location on the Portuguese West Coast.
Just over 90 kilometres from Lisbon, on the edge of a quiet bay shaped like a scallop, the village of São Martinho do Porto conquered in the 19th century a special corner in the heart of the Lisbon nobility that elected it as a favorite resort when it came to bathing. And it was the ride of these wealthy summers that the village won so many groomed houses and chalets worthy of magazine cover, teahouses and the beautiful beach stalls to house the marquees that went to baths.
The tradition of vacationing in São Martinho passes from generation to generation and the most traditional families continue to be present in the village in the months of August, bringing the most animated trailer to the street of cafes, to the marginal and to the sheltered sandy of the north wind that is theiming in blowing in August. In the last decade São Martinho has been consolidating its status as an out-of-date resort and has stolen a few hearts also beyond the border – the last few years have been of growth for tourism and it is increasingly the tourists who elect the region for a few days of family vacation.
